We begin with the federal extortion trial of two aides to Mayor Walsh. After closing arguments earlier today, the case went to the jury. The aides are accused of threatening to withhold permits, unless the organizers of a music festival hired union stage hands. A thirty-four year-old man has been charged with assaulting a woman Sunday on Harrison Avenue, in the South End. Michael Powers of Boston was arrested yesterday morning. He faces charges that include aggravated assault and battery, along with kidnapping and assault by means of a dangerous weapon. A man from Everett has been arrested for a fatal hit-and-run crash in Charlestown. Sixty-five year-old Allen Williams has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after causing death and driving after suspension or revocation of a license. Yesterday in Roslindale Square, neighbors spent some more time outdoors like people in other parts of the city--and the country--for National Night Out. The idea was to get more acquainted with local police, and for police to have more contact with the local community.
